What automatic actually means
Automatic means the award is triggered by numbers already on your application, so admission is the application. You do not write anything extra. That is the whole appeal, and it is why these grids are worth checking before you commit to a school: the same transcript can be worth a quarter off tuition at one campus and tuition plus room and board at another, as the table below shows.
Three things decide whether a grid actually applies to you. Whether the GPA is weighted or unweighted, because a 3.5 unweighted and a 3.5 weighted are very different students. Whether there is a separate math sub-score requirement, which Florida A&M enforces and most schools do not. And what the renewal GPA is, because a full ride you lose after freshman year is a one-year scholarship.
- Check whether the GPA is weighted or unweighted before you assume you qualify.
- Check the renewal GPA, not just the entry GPA.
- Check whether the award covers tuition only, or tuition plus housing and food. That gap is usually the largest number in the whole decision.
- Confirm every figure with the school's financial aid office. These grids change year to year and this page is a snapshot, not an offer.
Verified automatic merit tiers
Every row below was read off the school's own page in August 2026. Where a school states an ACT and an SAT threshold for the same tier, both are listed; you generally need one, not both.

Florida A&M has a math sub-score filter almost nobody mentions
Florida A&M states a single baseline for scholarship consideration: a 3.50 unweighted GPA plus either an SAT of 1320 with a math section score of 670 or better, or an ACT of 28 with a math section score of 28 or better.
The math requirement is the part that catches people. A composite score that clears the bar can still fail on the section score, so a student with a 1330 built on a strong reading score and a 610 in math does not meet it. Check your section scores, not just your composite. Florida A&M does not publish its individual named awards and their separate cutoffs on that page, so we are not listing any here.
Lincoln University of Missouri publishes a range, not a public grid
Lincoln University of Missouri runs the Blue Tiger Advantage, which awards automatically between $500 and $3,250 a year based on GPA and an SAT or ACT score, or on GPA alone for students applying without test scores. The award tiers it references are $3,250, $2,000, $1,500, $1,000 and $250.
The full matrix that maps a specific GPA and score to a specific tier lives in a downloadable PDF rather than on the page itself, so we are not reproducing cutoffs for it. Open the matrix from their scholarships page before you rely on a number.
Why this list is short
An earlier version of this page covered seven schools. When every figure was checked against the source, four of the six schools we could reach had at least one wrong number, and one school's page could not be loaded at all. The wrong numbers were not small: one school's top award was listed a full grade point and two ACT points below its real threshold, which would have told a student they had a full ride when they did not.
So this page now carries only tiers read directly off a school's own page, and Prairie View A&M is not listed because its scholarship page would not load for us. That is not a judgment about the school. It means we could not verify it, and on numbers that decide where you apply, we would rather be short than confident and wrong.
