GoBursar is a service operated by D. Developments ("GoBursar," "we," "us"). It helps students research scholarships and write essays. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions? Email support@gobursar.com.
Information we collect
Account: your email address, and your name if you sign in with Google.
Profile and documents: anything you add to your profile (school, major, graduation year, and the resume or story you paste) and any documents you upload, such as a resume, past essays, or award letters.
Scholarship activity: the scholarship links or text you paste, the briefs and fit verdicts we generate, your saved scholarships and their status, and the essay help and chat messages you create.
Usage: basic technical and usage data (for example, which features you used and error logs) to run and improve the service and prevent abuse.
Payments: payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number. We keep a record that a pass was purchased and, for a link paid by someone else, the email used at checkout.
How we use your information
We use your information to generate your cited briefs, fit verdicts, and essay help, personalize those results to your real background, operate and secure the service, process payments, and respond to support requests.
How AI processing works
To produce briefs and essay help, the scholarship text and the profile and document content you provide are sent to our AI and research providers (currently Google's Gemini API and web-search grounding). This processing happens so we can generate your results. We do not sell your information, and we do not use your essays or documents to advertise to you.
When we share information
We share information only with the service providers that run GoBursar: hosting and database (Supabase and Netlify), AI and research (Google Gemini), and payments (Stripe). Each processes data only to provide their service to us.
Shared briefs stay limited. If you choose to share a brief with a public link, that page shows only the brief itself. It never includes your profile, your documents, your fit verdict, or your chats.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and its data at any time by emailing support@gobursar.com. We may keep limited records we need for legal or accounting reasons, such as a proof of purchase.
Security
We use reputable providers and reasonable safeguards to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.
Students and age
GoBursar is intended for students age 13 and older. If you are under 18, please use it with a parent or guardian's involvement. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product changes. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page.
